The lymphatic system is a group of organs, vessels and tissues comprised of white blood cells and other cells working together to build up the immune system, fight off infections and remove waste and toxins. There are hundreds of lymph nodes throughout our bodies, but they are mainly concentrated in the neck, armpits, chest, abdomen and groin.
As a vital part of our immune system, the lymphatic system collects excess fluid from our tissues then filters out the waste and destroys old and abnormal cells that our body doesn't need. It maintains normal fluid levels and absorbs fats and fat-soluble vitamins so they can make their way into the bloodstream.
